Triumph Bonneville T100 Parts & Maintenance Guide (2017–2026)

This Triumph Bonneville T100 parts and maintenance guide covers every model year from 2017 to 2026: the liquid-cooled 900 cc high-torque twin that replaced the air-cooled bike in 2017, including the T100 Black and special editions. Every figure below comes from Triumph’s own owner’s handbook, and most routine service parts (oil, filter, plugs, battery) are the same in every year covered.

Quick picks: everything for a T100 oil change

An oil and filter change takes 3.4 L (3.6 US qt) of 10W-40 or 10W-50 (fully or semi-synthetic, API SN (or higher) and JASO MA2). Without a filter change it takes 3.2 L (3.4 US qt). A 4-liter jug covers a full service.

Engine oil for the T100

Triumph specifies 10W-40 or 10W-50 motorcycle oil, fully or semi-synthetic, API SN (or higher) and JASO MA2. Use a motorcycle-specific oil: car oils with friction modifiers can make the wet clutch slip.

  • Shop 10W-40 or 10W-50 motorcycle oil
  • Capacity with filter: 3.4 L (3.6 US qt). Fill to just below this, run the engine, then top up to the upper mark.
  • Check the level with the bike upright on level ground after it has sat for a few minutes.

Triumph Bonneville T100 oil filter

The T100 takes a spin-on filter. HiFlo lists the HF204 for the liquid-cooled Bonneville family from 2016 on; the K&N equivalent is the KN-204-1 (or the KN-204C canister).

Tighten the filter to 10 Nm (89 lbf in) and the drain plug to 25 Nm (18 lbf ft) with a new sealing washer. Oil the filter’s rubber seal before fitting.

Tools for the job

  • Torque wrench: the drain plug (25 Nm (18 lbf ft)) and spark plugs (12 Nm (9 lbf ft)) are easy to over-tighten.
  • Oil filter wrench: for spin-on filters.
  • Oil drain pan: holds the 3.8 L dry-fill volume with room to spare.
  • Stand: a rear paddock stand or lift jack to hold the bike upright for an accurate oil level and chain work.
  • Chain cleaner and lube: clean and lube the 102-link chain every 500 miles or after rain.
  • Tire pressure gauge: cold pressures are 32 psi (2.21 bar) front and 36 psi (2.48 bar) rear.
  • Battery tender: keeps the YTX12-BS topped up in storage.

Spark plugs

The T100 uses 2 × NGK LMAR8A-9, gapped at 0.9 mm (+0.0/−0.1 mm) and tightened to 12 Nm (9 lbf ft). Buy the exact part number: a different heat range can foul or overheat. Search NGK LMAR8A-9 on Amazon and check the listing title matches before you buy.

Air filter

Triumph doesn’t print an air filter part number in the owner’s handbook. Search by model and year (Triumph Bonneville T100 air filter) and confirm the listing names your exact model and year range. Reusable K&N-type filters need cleaning and re-oiling instead of replacement.

Battery

The handbook battery is the YTX12-BS (12 V, 10 Ah). Any battery sold as a direct YTX12-BS replacement fits the tray. A lithium swap saves weight but needs a lithium-compatible charger. Shop YTX12-BS batteries

Brake pads

The handbook doesn’t list brake pad part numbers, and calipers can differ between model years and trims. Before ordering, check the caliper brand stamped on the caliper body and your model year, then match the pads to both (search Triumph Bonneville T100 brake pads). Sintered pads suit most road riding. Fit pads in axle sets and bed them in gently for the first 200 miles.

Chain and sprockets

The stock final drive is a chain of 102 links with 17-tooth front and 41-tooth rear sprockets. Replace chain and sprockets together, and set slack to the figure in your owner’s handbook. Rear axle nut torque is 110 Nm (81 lbf ft).

Tires

PositionSizeCold pressure
Front100/90-18 56H32 psi (2.21 bar)
Rear150/70 R17 69H36 psi (2.48 bar)

Triumph only approves specific tire pairs for each model (the list is on triumphtechnicalinformation.com). Buy front and rear as a matched pair of the same model, with load and speed ratings at least as high as stock. Search tire pairs in your sizes, and always check the size on your current sidewall first.

Tire pressure

Set pressures cold: 32 psi (2.21 bar) front, 36 psi (2.48 bar) rear. Check weekly; motorcycle tires lose a little air every few days.
